Booster Gold was popular during his humble beginnings, and now he's popular again. Mattel captured this pattern with their pair of Booster Gold toys, one classic and one modern. This particular version of Booster Gold is the variant modern figure, but you can also read my full length review of Booster Gold (Classic). Mattel has managed to sneak in a unique variant that is just different enough to justify its own release, and almost good enough to be great, but not quite. This is another solid toy in Wave 7 of the DC Universe Classics line.

9 / 10 - Standard buff body is reused heavily, but it still looks okay; sleek design; gloves and wrists have good details, including Legion flight ring; Skeets
attachment looks good; Skeets has cute Mr. Mind inside, with tech details too; face sculpt
looks great.
6 / 10 - Colors work well for modern version; some substandard applications; color fade on wrists and gloves; head is sloppy; clean and centered chest logo; no slop or mess; details inside Skeets are well painted; funky orange color on his shoulders; colors don't line up right on shoulders; gloves are the wrong color!
9 / 10 - Nothing looks too distracting; everything works really well; able
to personality and fun to Booster's poses; a lot of joints, but there could always be a couple more; no stuck hips, which is still a relief; Skeets has flip open panel.
8 / 10 - Pretty obscure character; doesn't grab you with design; Skeets' inclusion of Mr. Mind is a great addition; articulation boosts play value considerably; no other accessories to enjoy; includes a connect & connect piece; packaging has some useful info; nothing frustrating about figure.
8 / 10 - There aren't any accessories, but the C&C
piece helps perception of worth a lot; Skeets falls down easily; quality control is high; some good attention to detail with Skeets and flight ring; not a tiny or huge figure; feels like it will last a while; could stand to be a couple dollars cheaper.
Overall Score: 78 / 100 - This is a Good Toy
Booster Gold's colors are more at home in this modern rendition, but unfortunately his otherwise poor paint job holds him back despite strong scores in other categories.
P.S. This could be the figure I'm giving away this month, just leave a comment for a chance to win (if it's the one).
